about

After years of including my own original music in my 256PiAlternate YTPs to various extents, The Return To Rio is the first (and probably last) YTP I've ever done to *only* include my own original music as its score. As such, I've compiled together this EP of all the various cues I put together as its official soundtrack. The video: youtu.be/MEGUjSD8-Rk

I kind of doubt I'm going to be doing a full original soundtrack to one of my own YTPs again since developing this in tandem with the video made the process of putting it all together that much more complicated (just another reason the video took over 2 years to come out!) but it's still something that's always been on my bucket list to do for years and it was quite a fun challenge for me regardless. Hope you enjoy!

Some tracks were previously released / adapted from old sessions & tracks.
Track 1 originally from "Drinking The Sky": www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEQZP3rOaH4
Tracks 2 & 12 edited from "Selected Subtractions LXXXV-XCII" from my Noontide Side Attic Drifter album: 256pi.bandcamp.com/track/selected-subtractions-lxxxv-xcii
Track 8 contains elements from "The Vindaloo Fetish Song" 256pi.bandcamp.com/track/the-vindaloo-fetish-song
Track 11 contains elements from "Opening The Void" from my Spiral Out of Control album: 256pi.bandcamp.com/track/opening-the-void
Track 13 originally from "Trilogy of Errors": www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxQ3LzxqbeY

Several tracks re-adapt melodies from my original-tune YTPMVs over the years such as "Mark My Words", "Viking Transport Wood", "Tim's Rhytims", "Plate in the Cupboard", and "Reading Pro".

also the first half of the track "Templewalking" bases itself around the percussion patterns from Ghostface Playa's "Why Not" because it's for a YTP and the temptation for the meme reference was too hard to resist in the moment

about

256 Pi Chicago, Illinois

My guess is that you know me for my YTPs or Wonky Angle reviews if anything, but I've been making music for far longer than I've been making videos. This is the place where I take my favorites from the music I've made and post it for people to listen to. It's all royalty-free/creative commons, btw, use however you like, just give credit :) Hope you enjoy. ... more
